Dovizioso on Motegi Japan

Dovizioso surprised by his own lap record on wet Motegi, Japan

Motegi – Andrea Dovizioso is very happy with the result of his free practice in MotoGP Japan. He was surprised by his own record on Motegi while the track is pretty much wet.

The free practice session on the first day of MotoGP in Motegi, Japan take place in a wet condition. In the first session, Marc Marquez became the fastest rider while Dovizioso finished in 5th position.

However, Dovizioso managed to improve his lap record on the second session. He finished with 1 minute 54,877 second, meanwhile Marc Marquez finished in 1 minute 54,834. The gap between Dovizioso and Marc Marquez is only 0,043 second.

Dovizioso surprised at the speed of the Desmosedici GP17 on the wet track in Motegi. Because in the last two wet tracks he passes, Dovizioso finds it difficult.

“It was really good, too, because we did not expect to be competitive on the wet track because in the last two wet tracks we passed, I did not feel good,” said┬áDovizioso as reported by Crash.

Today since the first corner I felt so good, the grip is really good in the back and that’s very important to us, so we’ve got a good feeling from the start.

We took small steps from my day and lap times pretty quickly, but I’m more happy with the way I do it, not about the fastest lap, because we do it early in training when normally you do not have much speed.

So I am happy about that but now we have to work in detail on the wet track because the rear tire consumption is high enough for everything, 24 is very long, the speed is there, so we have a chance to work on different areas to try to save the tires.
