Good day auto fans. I have a question for you. How do you trust an advertisement? I personally do not trust an advert until it’s proven. The rumors said that the all new Honda Civic Type R is a car with performance excellence but how do we know that? It seems like Honda doesn’t want us to doubt their claims, so they recently tested its new Civic at the Nurburgring circuit, Germany.
Surprise, surprise! The 2017 Civic Type R managed to achieve a new achievement by breaking the fastest record for the category of front-wheel-drive in the class of hot hatch. The car managed to record a time of 7 minutes 43.80 seconds or 3 seconds faster than the previous record holder.
The interesting thing about the test is that despite breaking the record, it’s a standard car that fit the specifications of its mass production. The only difference is a minor modification made to adjust the safety standards for racing.
The Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit is located in the town of Nurburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It has a length of 20.8 kilometers and is the longest and most challenging race circuits in the world. This circuit is famous and busy since 1927 until now.
“The cornering speed achieved in the new Type R is higher because the car features a wider track and tires, a longer wheelbase, new multi-link suspension in the rear and optimized aerodynamics that improves stability. For example, drivers typically enter the corner after Metzgesfeld at around 150km/h. Even at this medium-speed corner, the speed is around 10km/h higher due to the new Type R’s excellent stability. So, with improved cornering performance, we can increase the speed throughout the lap, helping the new Type R achieve a much quicker lap time.” said Ryuichi Kijima, Chassis Engineer of All New Honda Civic Type R.
The all new 2017 Civic Type R is an aggressive car thanks to the use of Sporty Front & Rear Bumper, Front & Rear Fenders and Sporty Alloy Wheel, Sporty & Rear Lower Bumper, Sporty Front Grill, Sporty Front Grill, and the car uses braking system package from Brembo.
As for the engine, the car equipped with Honda VTEC engine Turbo Earth Dreams Technology 2.0 liter 4 cylinder, direct injection line that can generate maximum power of 320 PS and maximum torque of 400 NM. The car uses a 6 speed manual. The Civic Type R features a new “+ R” button that gives extreme driving sensations to the driver.
Civic Type R will start entering the mass production stage in the summer of 2017 at the Honda Factory in Swindon, England. Civic Type R will begin to be sold in Europe and afterwards it will be exported to various other regions such as the United States and Asia including Japan.
